The Cedéz Cello Quartet is a new chamber group made up of young people, excellent Slovenian cellists. It consists of Izak Hudnik, a student of postgraduate studies at the Zurich School of Arts in the class of
Professor Thomas Grossenbacher. In September, he started his studies as an academic with playing in the world-renowned Concertgebouw Symphony Orchestra Amsterdam;
Zala Vidic, postgraduate student at the Conservatory of Music in Amsterdam , in the class of Professor Pieter Wispelwey. In 2016 she represented Slovenia in the final of the Young Eurovision Musicians competition in
Cologne, Ema Krečič, postgraduate student at Mozarteum University with Professor Clemens Hagen, and a parallel Bachelor's degree at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana with Professor Karmen Pečar. For her achievements
academic achievements, she was awarded the Prešeren Prize of the Academy of University of Music in Ljubljana, and Nejc Rupnik, a student of undergraduate studies at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg in the class of Professor Enrico Bronzi, recipient of two Škerjanč Prizes from the Conservatory of Music and Ballet Ljubljana for his achievements in 2015 and 2018.
Each of us regularly participates in national and international competitions, where
where we achieve excellent results. Our instrument professors
we are currently studying are excellent chamber musicians and therefore for us
invaluable sources of knowledge and experience from whom we learn. As a Slovenian
students studying abroad, where the chamber group of four cellos
are much more developed and frequent, we feel obliged to bring our experience
from abroad back home to develop our visibility here and to bring our playing to the
the next generation of young cellists.
EMA KREČIČ
At the age of seven she began to study cello at the Ljubljana Vič-Rudnik Music School in the
class of prof. Damir Hamidullin. Her further education was at the Diocesan Classical
Gymnasium, and at the same time she studied cello at the Carinthian Conservatory in
Klagenfurt (Austria) in the class of prof. Igor Mitrović. In 2021 she graduated at the Academy
of Music in Ljubljana in the class of prof. Karmen Pečar. In Winter semester 2020/21 she
went on the Erasmus exchange at the University Mozarteum in Salzburg to the class of prof.
Clemens Hagen. In 2021 she received the Prešeren Award of the Academy of Music of the
University of Ljubljana for her academic achievements. Since October 2021, she continues
her Master studies at the University Mozarteum Salzburg in the class of prof. Clemens Hagen
and paralel at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana with prof. Karmen Pečar.
So far, she has performed twice as a soloist with professional orchestra. In January this year
she performed Dvořák’s Cello Concerto in h-moll with Slovenian Philharmonic orchestra and
in March 2020 she performed Tchaikovsky’s Rococo variations with RTV Slovenia Symphonic
Orchestra. Regularly she plays solo recitals organized by different organizers (among others
Glasbena Mladina Ljubljanska, Ljubljana Festival, Imago Sloveniae, Piranski glasbeni večeri).
She is a member of piano trio Avis, violoncello ensemble Cello Atacca!, string quartet of the
jazz band P'Jays and regularly plays in duo with her brother, violinist Matija Krečič. In
addition, she frequently participates in various orchestras.
Ema Krečič plays the Italian cello, which was once owned by prof. Heinrich Schiff. It was made
by Angelo Radrizzani in 1932.
ZALA VIDIC began her musical career at the age of 6 at Music school Marjan Kozine Novo mesto, Slovenia
with Prof. Ana Arh. Already in primary school she participated at many national and international
competitions, where she regularly reached for highest prices.
In 2013 Zala continued her education at Conservatory for Music and Ballet Ljubljana with Prof. Karmen
Pečar Koritnik. She participated in many competitions, such as International Cello competition Antonio
Janigro - 2nd price, National Competition TEMSIG - 1st price, a Gold plaque and special award for 100
points and best performance of the obligatory piece. Zala is the recipient of the Škerjanc Award for
outstanding artistic achievements and in 2016 she performed at the Final of competition Young Eurovision
Musicians as a representative of Slovenia.
Zala has recently graduated from violoncello at Universität für Music und darstellende Kunst Wien in class
of Prof. Reinhards Latzko and is currently studying at Conservatorium van Amsterdam in class of Prof.
Pieter Wispelwey.
After recently finishing his studies with Giovanni Gnocchi at the Salzburg Mozarteum, cellist IZAK
HUDNIK is continuing his training at the Zurich University of the Arts with Thomas Grossenbacher,
together with a specialisation in contemporary music with Martina Schucan. Prior to this, he studied
with Miloš Mlejnik in Ljubljana and Reinhard Latzko in Vienna. He has participated in numerous
masterclasses with cellists such as Steven Isserlis, Troels Svane, Jens Peter Maintz, Mario Brunello
and Heinrich Schiff. First prizes at national (2009, 2015, 2018) and international competitions in
Poreč (A. Janigro), Lienz, Trieste, Gorica and Ljubljana (Svirél) earned him a number of concert
invitations in Slovenia and abroad. He has appeared as a soloist with the Slovenian Army Wind
Orchestra, the String Chamber Orchestra of the Slovenian Philharmonic, the RTV Slovenia
Symphony Orchestra, the Ljubljana Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra, the Amadeo Chamber
Orchestra, the Württemberg Philharmonic of Reutlingen and the Dutch Student Orchestra. In
February 2020, he performed at the opening concert of the international Antonio Janigro Cello
Competition, accompanied by the Zagreb Soloists. He is a member of the Ljubljana Soloists, the
Slovenian String Sextet and the Ad Hoc piano trio. A seasoned chamber musician, he has appeared
at international festivals such as Accademia dei Cameristi Bari,Slowind, Imago, Trame Sonore
Mantova, Musethica (Berlin) and the Ostrava New Music Days, as well as at the Bled and Ljubljana
festivals. He is the recipient of the Prešeren Award of the Ljubljana Academy of Music and is a
scholarship holder of the Slovenian Ministry of Culture.
NEJC RUPNIK began his musical career at the Vrhnika Music
School with prof. Almira Hamidullina, and for the last two years
of the music school he was a student of prof. Damir Hamidullina
at the Vič - Rudnik Music School. He continued his education at
the Ljubljana Conservatory of Music and Ballet in the class of
prof. Karmen Pečar Koritnik. He is currently in third year of
Bachelor studies at the Mozarteum University with prof. Enrico
Bronzi.
He is a multiple winner of national and international competitions
as a soloist, as well as with the Piano Trio Rupnik, in which he has
been playing with his sister Manca and brother Anže for twelve
years. Nejc is the recipient of two Škerjanc Awards of the
Ljubljana Conservatory of Music and Ballet for 2015 and 2018.
Nejc is a member of the cello ensemble CELLOATTACCA !!
under the mentorship of prof. Karmen Pečar Koritnik, with whom
he has repeatedly presented himself as a soloist.
He plays the cello (2011) of luthier Katharina Abbuehl from
Cremona.
